The next UFWL Draft Pick: Ivory

Many people remember Ivory as the three time WWE Women's Champion, but her history goes back a lot further. In fact it goes all the way back to G.L.O.W. where she was a champion and a tag team champion. Many of us wrestling old timers remember watching GLOW as young men and really enjoying not only the females, but the wrestling skills on display.

Without a doubt Ivory is one of the best women technical wrestlers that has ever entered the squared circle. She had a number of pushes with the WWE, including a run with Right to Censor, and of course her career was ruined by the disastrous Invasion storyline. She would go on to be a trainer on Tough Enough 2.

We bring Ivory to the UFWL to be a legit threat for teh UFWL Women's title, and to compete as a heel against the likes of Lita and Chyna.

The next UFWL draft pick Edge and Christian

For the benefit of those with flash photography, the next UFWL Draft pick is the tag team of Edge and Christian. They were a dominant tag team of the WWE attitude era, and given teh current state of affairs in the UFWL we needed to draft not only a strong tag team, but a tag team where each guy could carry his own in the singles divisions.

Without a doubt Edge and Christian were one of the finest tag team combinations of the 21st century. They held teh WWE Tag Titles 7 different times, and both Edge and Christian have gone on to much success apart from one another.

Without a doubt one of my favorite promos this duo ever cut was playing other wrestlers entrance songs on their kazoos, it was just hysterical and I always found them far more entertaining than any of the DX angles even though they were essentially doing the kind of routine.

The UFWL will use them as a tag team first, but since our new commish has laid down the law on several changes to our roster we may also use them as singles competitors.

UFWL names new commish

Ted Dibase, the Million Dollar man, has not only bought into the UFWL but he will now be serving as its new commissioner. Navy, our former commissioner, has been moved to the head of talent relations after a few legal issues and a confrontation with a particular TNA executive with very white hair.

Since the UFWL President, AJ Sager, is a total and complete jackass, Ted had to come in and save the company from a financial shortfall and get a wrestling guy in charge of the wrestling operations. Of course with a new owner and commish we now have to announce more changes.

The first being is that Raven has been released from his UFWL contract. Ted Dibase wants the structure of the UFWL to be as follows: five wrestlers in the Super Heavyweight division. These five men will also be eligible to compete for the UFWL World Title. The World Title division will have 10 men as will the North American division. Randy Savage, DDP, and Rob Van Damn have all been added to the NA division. The Tag division will feature five teams, and the cruiser weight and women's division will also feature five wrestlers each.

Ted will now control the wrestling side of the business, with Navy taking care of the talent, and talent acquisition. The search continues for a head fro the creative team. Although several interviews have yielded a number of qualified candidates.

A message from the UFWL President

Hello UFWL fans, my name is AJ Sager and I am the President of the UFWL. I have booked this time to put a hold on our Commissioner plans. The UFWL will not have eight divisions with 10 wrestlers each. Our market research shows that wrestling fans no longer care about Hardcore wrestling so we are axing that division all together. Some of that talent will be drafted into either the North American Division or the TV title division.

We also will only draft five wrestlers for each division. This is due to a shortfall in UFWL cash reserves and we will launch of league with a roster of 35-45 wrestlers competing in six divisions plus a tag team division.

Let me also put a stop to our Commissioner’s plan to have stable have a member in each division. The UFWL will allow a total of four stables to be formed, and we will be dropping the requirement that each stable have a wrestler in each division. Stables may be formed of at least four members and those four members can be from any division.

Furthermore the UFWL will be bringing in managers for certain wrestlers and divisions, and we will be hiring valets. These valets will be known as UFWL Dolls, and their only job will be to escort people to the ring.

One last thing, I and the Board of Governors at the UFWL grow increasingly concerned about the feud between our Commissioner, Navy, and a man from another wrestling promotion. Let us call him Eric. We will be keeping an eye on this situation.

Thanks to all the UFWL fans out there

AJ Sager

18th UFWL draft pick: Stone Cold Steve Austin

The 18th UFWL draft pick is the toughest SOB around, none other that Stone Cold Steve Austin. Stone Cold was the reason the WWF was able to overtake the WCW in the famed Monday Night Wars, and the UFWL needs him to come in and be the main eventer he turned into while at the WWF.

Sure he was once a part of the Hollywood Blondes with Brian Pillman, sure he was a forgettable Ringmaster and second holder of the Million Dollar belt, but once Ted Dibase left the WWF Steve Austin became Stone Cold and a lot of his trademark sayings and phrases were his own creation.

The UFWL needs a guy like that not only to legitimize out World title division but help our creative team find new gimmicks and catch phrases to help sell merchandise. Stone Cold is force and we hope he has a long and successful run in the UFWL.

17th UFWL Draft Pick: Andre the Giant

The 17th UFWL Draft pick is the 8th wonder of the world Andre the Giant. Is there any guess hat division the UFWL will place him in? Of course not. Also we are not talking about the old broken down giant of the lat 1980's, we are talking about the Giant in his prime in the mid to late 1970's. The guy who can kick much ass, and even cut a promo now and again.

This is truly the great thing about fantasy wrestling; we can reach back into history and get guys from their prime from different eras.

The word around the UFWL locker room is that Bret Hart has been heavily recruiting Andre to join his Hart Foundation stable. Back in the NWA days Andre has a few successful runs with Stampede Wrestling run but Bret's father Stu Hart. We will have to wait and see if Bret can convince Andre to wrestle with him.

16th UFWL Draft Pick: Raven

This might be something of a surprise to folks out there. Taking Raven with the 16th pick, but UFWL is going to have a certain gang wars mentality to it, and no one out there has assembled a gang quite like the boy Raven.

We are toying with a new idea for the UFWL. Stables have always been a part of pro wrestling, and in the UFWL we have stipulated that for a stable to be a legitimate part of our promotion they must field at least eight members and have a person designated for each singles division in the UFWL.

The new idea comes in the form of an Ultimate Stable belt. A Stable Championship to add heat to the war between the different groups in the UFWL.

Sure we are setting up a gang war, and in a gang war we will need Raven and his flock. We do not yet know who will be in his flock, but we can be assured that his stable will be one of the more dominate ones around.

As a singles wrestler Raven will compete in the hardcore division where he can use his Raven's Rules gimmick much more effectively.

15th UFWL Draft pick: Ultimo Dragon

The 15th UFWL draft is probably the best cruiser weight the world over. We are drafting none other than the Ultimo Dragon. He is the only wrestler to hold 10 cruiser weight titles at one time twice. He is a high flying Lucha Libre style wrestler who learned his craft in Mexico and will be a featured star of our Cruiser Weight Division.

Ultimo Dragon has been severely mismanaged by U.S. based wrestling promotions. He got his best push at the old WCW, even going on to win the WCW TV belt, but in 2003 he came to the WWE, and like most stars made by other promotions the WWE creative team failed to turn him into a big asset. It is a mistake the UFWL does not plan on repeating.

This guy is a special talent, and we plan to use him in a special way.

14th UFWL Draft pick: Chyna

The 14th UFWL draft pick in none other that the 9th wonder of the world Chyna. Ya see, the great thing about fantasy wrestling is I don't have to consider hurt feelings, or the particular instability of the talent. Chyna's WWF career came to an end prematurely because Triple H decided having sex with the boss' daughter was far more beneficial than having sex with Chyna. She could not resolve those feelings even the WWF creative team had created a new angle for her to pursue.

So we don't have to get into Chyna's struggle as a human being, even though it makes us kind of sad, we can instead focus on her in ring abilities. We here at the UFWL want to have a legitimate women's division. We want girls who can kick ass, and we can worry about divas and valets later.

We fully expect Chyna to be a force n our women's division. She will enter as a face, and see if our fans are ready to accept her back into the wrestling fold.

13th UFWL Draft Pick: DDP Diamond Dallas Page

Self High Five, the 13th UFWL fantasy draft pick is none other than DDP, Diamond Dallas Page. To be clear I am not talking about the creepy stalker DDP that had a disastrous run in the WWE, but the DDP who was the one guy to stand up to the NWO, and kick ass all over the old WCW.

Even though DDP would win the WCW World Championship on three separate occasions, I don' think he ever made it to main event status. Sure he is a great talent, and his pretty good on the mike, but in the UFWL we will sue DDP as a heel in our TV Title division.

We need guys to help carry our TV shows, House shows, and give us great matches on the under card of our PPV's. Page is all of that in one package, and we made him a high draft pick because of it.

12th UFWL draft pick: The Undertaker

Oh man, the dead man, no wrestling promotion would be complete with one of the best old school talents in the business who somehow has kept it going for all of these years. The great thing about the Undertaker is he is one of the only old school guys, who has managed to stay completely relevant with one promotion all of these years. Sure is Wrestlemania win streak is something of legend, but the UFWL needed to add the WWE franchise to make itself relevant.

There is no doubt about it that the Undertaker is a main eventer, and we look forward to him bringing his unique style to the World Title division of the UFWL. To start we see Undertaker as not only a fan favorite but a face as well. We look forward to all the great matches 'Taker is sure to bring to our promotion.

11th UFWL Draft Pick: Macho Man Randy Savage

Oh YEAH!!!!!! The 11th UFWL draft pick is none other than Macho Man Randy Savage. We shall bring Macho Man to the UFWL to headline our TV Title division, not because he is not a main eventer, but because we need entertaining guys to help carry our TV shows.

Randy is an excellent in ring talent, and he is pretty good on the Mike. The one issue I have is he tends to go off the deep end doing promos, and the main message tends to get lost a bit. I want to put him in a division where he will get to face wrestlers he hasn't faced a lot in his career.

10th UFWL Draft Pick: Demolition

Here comes the AX, and here comes the smasher, the 10th UFWL draft pick is none other than the dominate tag team of Demolition. No, I am not talking about the three person Demolition from the 1990's. Even though Crush was a great addition to the act. I am talking about the kick your ass team that dominated the Tag Team division of the WWF in the late 1980's.

When I talk to old school wrestling fans, much like my self, all of them were big fans of Demolition. It is too bad a allergy sidelined what could have been one of the best teams in the history of Sports Entertainment. The great thing about fantasy wrestling is I can bring them back in all of their glory.

9th UFWL Draft Pick: The Rock

The 9th UFWL draft pick is none other than the pie eatin, jabroni smackin, Just Bringin, ass kickin, best wrestler of the new century none other than the Rock. The Rock will be in our World Title division, or other wise known as our Main Eventers.

The great thing about the Rock is it doesn't matter if he is a heel of a face, he kicks the ass of whoever happens to step up, and the fans love him regardless. We are counting on the Rock to carry our promotion and work the mike like no other.

If you Smeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllll what the Rock is....................................Cooking

The 8th UFWL draft pick: Sting

No, I am not talking about the Crow Sting, or the red and black NWO: Wolf pack Sting, I am talking about the classic Sting that was teh backbone of WCW in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Sting was the man, and I bring him to the UFWL to be the main competition to one Bret Hart.

It is really too bad two other wrestling promotions failed to develop a feud between these two men, as both at one time were considered the franchise of their respective companies. They are both pretty similar wrestlers and it is the match up many hardcore Old School wrestling fans would love to see.

We will place Sting in the North American division, and he has to be considered a favorite to win the ten man Battle Royale to determine the first UFWL North American Champion.

Monday, November 22, 2010

The 7th UFWL Draft pick: Ahmed Johnson

So I needed another big man to compete in the Super Heavy Weight Division and I immediately though of one Ahmed Johnson. He had a brief three year run in the WWE, and even won the Intercontinental Championship. Of course he ended up having Kidney Issues that forced him to forfeit that title, and really put a premature end to his wrestling career. We should note that Johnson was the first ever African American IC champ, leading the way for guys like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

We will introduce Johnson as a face, he could be a favorite to win the 10 man Battle Royal to determine the first UFWL Super Heavyweight Champion at the first Pay Per View tentatively scheduled for February 14th, 2011.

The sixth UFWL draft pick is: Rob Van Dam

Every wrestling promotion needs good workers, and RVD is not only that but a very exciting talent as well. I don't see RVD as a headline act. I think he did his best work in ECW, and that the wrtiers over at WWE didn't know how to use him effectively. TNA is, well an old school wrestling guy like me doesn't watch TNA very often, so I can't really speak to how they have used him.

All good wrestling promotions need good workers first, and then they need to create an atmosphere where they can aadvance. I don't think RVD can carry the company, so I am going to return him to his hardcore roots.

RVD will start off in the UFWL Hardcore divison. Sure in might have headliner skills in the ring, but on the mike I am not guite sure. I expect him to move up from this start, but for now RVD needs to prove himself to the fans of the UFWL.

UFWL Draft pick #5: Chris Jericho

We get to the fifth draft pick and the time to start filling out the UFWL's Crusier Weight divison. Sure Chris Jericho may now be a headliner, and a World Title winner, but on this roster his role will be to anchor the Crusier Weight divison. Basically I am going ot use Y2J the way the WCW should have used so many years ago.

I think to start he will be a face, even though he is a great heel. I think he will be over with our crowds, and the definite favorite to start his run with us as the Crusier Weight Champion. All of our titles will be decided by a 10 man battle royal to be held at our first pay per view.

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

4th UFWL draft pick: The Britsh Bulldogs

The fourth draft pick for the UFWL is the tag team the British Bulldogs. Sure in real life they have both passed on, but in the world of the UFWL they are alive and well and ready to dominate the tag team divison.

Monday, November 15, 2010

UFWL Draft pick #3: Lita

Without a doubt Lita may just be the finest woman proffesinal wrestler not only of her era, but of all time. She was not a Diva, she was not eye candy, but much like Chyna she came to the world of proffesional wrestling to kick ass.

It is really too bad that a neck injury and the fans reaction to her betrayal of Matt Hardy (both in WWE storylines and in real life) forced her out of the ring far bfore her time. We bring her to the UFWL to try and turn her face. While she could be a great heel, the UFWL needs a face at the moment, and Lita did very well for herself in that role.

Saturday, November 13, 2010

2nd UFWL draft pick: The Big Show

So I needed a guy to help me launch my Super Heavyweight Division, and who better than the Big Show. Sure he is a big guy, but of all the big guys through the years I see him as having a lot more talent and ability. It should be very interesting to see how he stacks up once the other members of this division are announced.

I see The Big Show as a heel, as a guy looking to prove that he is a main eventer, not used in the manner WCW, and for a long time the WWE used him. It will not join a faction immediately, nor will he immediately have a manager, but I think that will change sooner rather than later.

First UFWL Draft Pick: Bret hart

The first ever UFWL Draft pick is the nest there is, the nest there was, and the best there ever will be. The immortal legend Bret Hart.

Bret is coming to the UFWL to reorganize his heel stable the Hart Foundation. I am going to reunite him with his one time manager Jimmy Hart, and together they will be looking to rebuild their once great stable.

I am going to place Bret in the North American Championship division because I don’t think he has the mike skills to help us carry the promotion. It seems the best time in his career when he was the WWE IC champ, where he could focus on his in ring ability and not worry about carrying the promotion.

A word on stables in the UFWL, all stables will have to have one member in each division otherwise they will not be allowed to align themselves in this way.

The idea

Hello my name is Navy, and the Ultimate Fantasy Wrestling League is my brain child. I am a huge mark for Pro Wrestling, and I wanted a chance to run a wrestling organization my way. The UFWL is my little hobby, ego trip, call it what you will.

So for starters we are going to hold a wrestler draft. I will be drafting some of the greatest wrestling talents from all promotions and most eras. I started watching wrestling in 1985 so don't be so shocked if most of my wrestlers come from that time.

The UFWL will have eight divisions, all with a championship belt. We start with teh Super Heavy Weight division which will be comprised of all those legendary wrestling big boys. We move on to the World Championship division which will feature some of the biggest names in pro wrestling history. Then we have the Television and North American divisions which will feature all those guys hat weren’t quite good enough to carry a promotion on their own. We of course will have a Cruiserweight division for all those little guys. There will be a women's division, a hardcore division, and of course a tag team division.

Each wrestler I draft will be placed in one of the above divisions and will be eligible for the strap in said division. Wrestlers can only advance in divisions based on their overall win/loss record. Of course that also means wrestlers can be demoted a division. Everything will be based on win loss records.

The plan is to have one weekly “TV” show, one “house” show, and a bi monthly pay per view. There will be ten people/teams in each division, and the initial titles will be decided by a 10 man battle royal.

From there we will see where this goes.
